Parent Spaghetti Dinner Meeting

Parents who are interested in volunteering for the troop spaghetti dinner will be meeting at 7pm in the kitchen. Your help is very much appreciated.

Camp-out at Red Jacket Club

Some final reminders for this weekend's campout and excursion to Niagara Climbing Center:

1. Class A's to & from camp (as always!)

2. Class B's for Niagara Climbing event (not sure if it was mentioned last Tuesday)

3. The Niagara Climbing Center waiver must be signed by a parent. Please go to the website, print it off, sign it and bring with you to the firehall parking lot. Everyone needs one before we leave, or your parent will be driving out to meet us on Saturday.

This is a make up session covering the following topics:

"Where are we?" - a session on map reading and navigation while at Philmont

"Top 5 Ailments at Philmont" - a discussion on avoiding and treating the most frequent injuries or illnesses that get people sent to basecamp or the hospital.

Philmont Training: Personal Gear Check/How to Pack

By now you should have accumulated all of your personal gear needed for Philmont. Bring it to this required training session for a first inspection and lessons on how to load your backpack to improve your comfort and stability.

Ever wonder how we cook our food in Philmont or the Back Country? You get a chance to learn how and try out a dehydrated meal at this important training session.

All Philmont-bound scouts are required to attend

Philmont: Leave No Trace and Water Sanitation Training

Headed to Philmont or any other high adventure program? Attend this important training session!

Leave No Trace training - learn about the outdoor code, how to enjoy the outdoors and preserving it for those that come behind you.

Water Sanitation training - most of the water we're depending on while at Philmont or other High Adventure activities comes from ponds/streams/lakes and needs to be sanitized before drinking. Learn how this is done correctly and ensure you don't get sick along the trail.

Required for those headed to Philmont in 2010

Bring a nalgine water bottle, notepad and pen/pencil.
