Troop 483 Takes on the Mighty Genesee

Our May camp-out included a number of great activities including Whitewater Rafting down the Might Genesee River.

Scout Iron Chef was awesome!

Thanks to all the scouts who planned, organized and participated in the first Scout Iron Chef. BTW, the secret ingredient was Oranges and Tuna fish and the dishes were delicious! Click here for all the pictures!

Honor Our veterans

On Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 9:00am the troop will be assembling at St. Matthews Cementary in West Seneca for us to put flags on those veterans that have passed away. Ths a very inportant date and I am asking all scouts that are not on vacation to take part in this to salute our veterans. After placing flags ( approx. 2500 ) we will have hot dogs and chips and drinks also. More information will be coming.

Rafting for the May Campout

A few important things about this months campout. We are going rafting (rain permitting!) - this is fun and enjoyable campout in beautiful Letchworth park. For those scouts that don't qualify (see below) it is WELL worth attending - concider going just for the fun of it - we will have things to do while the others raft.

All adults participating in the event must be Youth Protection trained
All scouts participating must be Blue swimmers (passed a swim test in the last 12 months)
Minimum age of participants: 13
This is a scouts only event. Parent who attend are "Adult Leaders" (not mom or dad)

If you want to attend with your family, you are free to make your own arrangements by contacting Adventure Calls yourself. Let us know, you are welcome to picnic and eat with us!

Cost:

Campout is $20 PLUS

Rafting is an additional $30 (they raised their prices)

Note: each vehicle entering the park will also be charged $8 entry fee

Mr. Percy: District Award of Merit

Congratulations to Mr. Percy who was awarded the District Award of Merit Thursday night at the annual GNFC Volunteer Recognition Dinner!

Vision Walk volunteers needed!

On Sunday, 5/20/12 in Delaware Park (84 Parkside Ave) Vision Walk will take place for the first time in our area. This is very personal for me as a good friend of mine's son has retinoschisis and will go blind without a cure. This walk is to raise money for research for cures to this and ohter vision diseases. They are asking for help in the way of set up, handing out pizza and drinks and assisting walkers along the route. Anyone interested in helping contact Sandy Fiegl 587-1304. Thank You.

Great time at the camp out!

Pictures posted! We had a great time practicing patrol cooking (pancakes, sausage, hamburgers, hotdogs and spaghetti)! On Saturday we challenged the two crews with rescuing each other and they came up with a cool monkey bridge that everyone had fun on.

Please congratulate Nathaniel Kren (Scout) and Mrs. Kowalski (Scouter) the next time you see them! They are our scout and scouter of the year winners and it is well deserved!

Congratulations to Alan Percy - District Award of Merit 2012 recipient!

In recognition of all his efforts as the Red Jacket E-Communications Chair, Alan has been selected as a recipient of the 2012 District Award of Merit. He will be awarded the award at the annual GNFC Volunteers Award Banquet on April 26th.
